Corruption vs. interests of the few

Suggestion: rewrite the point "Corruption" under "Problems with representative democracy" or merge it into the point "Serving the interests of a few". --Psabin 12:21, 12 October 2010 (UTC)

They are distinct, though often-related thoughts. The whole system of lobbying is generally not considered a form of corruption, even though it is broadly understood that representatives take campaign contributions from lobbyists. So anyway, I re-wrote it some to help clarify. — Ed Pastore 16:23, 17 October 2010 (UTC)

I have divided the Problems with Representative Democracy into two broad categories. This helps organize them more logically. I feel like the "Harms to governance" might itself be divisible, but I haven't noticed quite how yet. Others are welcome to try, or to re-do my categorization completely. — Ed Pastore 16:23, 17 October 2010 (UTC)
